William Gibson Trust and The Scotsman Group have recently completed work on Gibson Trust Care Home at St Andrews West.
Relocating from Argyle Street, the 40 fully en-suite bedroom facility has been designed to enhance comfort levels and wellbeing of residents with communal and recreational areas as well as landscaped outdoor space.

St Andrews West development was recognised as Development of the Year (1 – 50 units) at the Premier Guarantee, one of the UK’s leading providers of new homes warranties, Excellence Awards 2025.

Royal and Ancient Golf Club announce plans to locate a purpose-built staff headquarters at St Andrews West.
Martin Slumbers, club secretary and R&A chief executive at the time said about the site, “most importantly it met the criteria of being firmly in St. Andrews, within sight of the Links and with the opportunity to create purpose-built facilities that reflect our role in golf… [it] is an exciting development for the future of the organisation”. The project is anticipated for completion in 2026.
Madras College opens the doors of its new state of the art school for the new academic year. Welcoming all its students under the one-roof for the first time since 1967. The architecturally celebrated school features Astroturf sports pitches, a theatre and parking available for use by the local community.
The William Gibson Charitable Trust announce they will be moving from their Argyle Street premises to a new specialist care home at St Andrews West. Solving a 17-year search for the perfect location to replace their existing home which first came into use in the 1880s.
St Andrews West is granted planning permission in principle from Fife Council. Following years of collaboration with the council, public consultations, extensive development research and input from industry-leading experts, the development begins to become reality.
The planning permission approves the phased plan to provide 900 new homes (of which 270 will be classified as affordable homes), University uses, local employment and business uses, retail, care homes, hotel, green travel network, major link road (now Bell Brae) and the new Madras College School building at St Andrews West.
